Fault Analysis: Why Is There Abnormal Noise from the Excavator’s Slewing Bearing?
The excavator’s ability to swing left and right during operation depends on its slewing unit, with the slewing bearing serving as a critical component of the slewing mechanism. The excavator’s slewing bearing is primarily responsible for supporting the weight of the superstructure and withstanding operational loads; it is also one of the most common failure points in excavators.
Common Mistakes Made by Beginner Excavator Operators—Have You Fallen Into Any of Them?
Every excavator novice is prone to making mistakes. Many beginners, driven by a cautious approach to maintenance, end up overdoing it—increasing maintenance frequency and intensity—yet, lacking experience, they often fall into common pitfalls that actually damage the machine. Today, we’ve compiled several typical mistakes made by newcomers. Take a look: have you fallen into any of these misconceptions?
The Importance of Operating Excavator Bucket Teeth and Their Structural Influence
As the utilization rate of excavator bucket teeth continues to rise, more and more construction projects are increasingly relying on this equipment. However, with increased use comes accelerated wear and tear on the bucket teeth, underscoring their critical importance. Therefore, careful attention must be paid during operation, and appropriate measures should be implemented to ensure proper maintenance and service, so that the bucket teeth can perform reliably over their intended lifespan. First and foremost, the right choice of bucket teeth is essential; material selection should be based on the specific operating environment, as this is the only way to ensure optimal performance. Properly selected bucket teeth will also deliver peak performance in service. During operation, excavator operators should pay close attention to the digging angle: when excavating, the bucket should be kept as vertical as possible relative to the working surface, or the outward tilt angle should not exceed 120 degrees, to prevent excessive tilting from causing the bucket teeth to snap off. In addition, operators should avoid swinging the excavator arm side-to-side under conditions of significant resistance, as this can lead to excessive lateral forces on both the bucket teeth and the tooth sockets, resulting in fracture. This is because the mechanical design of most bucket teeth models does not account for such lateral loading. The condition of the tooth socket wear is also crucial to the service life of the bucket teeth. It is recommended to replace the tooth socket once it has worn by 10%–15%, since excessive wear creates a large gap between the socket and the bucket tooth, altering the fit and the distribution of stress. As a result, the bucket tooth may fracture due to changes in the point of force application.
An Introduction to Excavator Bucket Teeth
As a critical consumable component of excavators, the bucket tooth functions much like a human tooth: it is a composite assembly consisting of a tooth base and a tooth tip, which are connected by a pin. Today, we’ll take a closer look at this essential part!
