However, many of the operational details we routinely follow are actually incorrect. Such improper practices not only reduce the machine’s operational efficiency but can even shorten its service life! So let’s talk about these common operational pitfalls. Today, we’ll start with: Why shouldn’t you floor the accelerator right after starting a skid-steer loader?
Some operators, eager to begin work as soon as the machine is started, immediately floor the throttle upon engine start-up in an attempt to rapidly accelerate the machine and bring it into working condition. However, this is an incorrect operating practice. When a wheel loader’s engine is first started, the engine and machine body are still at low temperatures, resulting in poor oil viscosity and inadequate lubrication—meaning that sufficient oil cannot be delivered to all lubrication points within a short period of time.
If the throttle is suddenly floored at this moment, the rotary tiller’s engine speed will surge instantaneously, resulting in brief dry friction that causes severe wear. The piston, connecting rod, and crankshaft will experience violent impacts, accelerating component damage. Therefore, it is strictly forbidden to abruptly floor the throttle immediately after starting a compact loader!
